Temporary Palaces – Seeds of Empire, Agneskirche Köln 2024
Botanical gardens are places that reproduce and stage an experience of nature and landscape, and convey a natural experience that is based on replicating and simulating tropical dreamworlds. In Temporary Palaces Stefanie Pluta directs a decolonial gaze onto Cologne´s botanical garden, tracing connective lines between the desire for artificial paradises and colonial history on the basis of contemporary and historical photo material.
